〈We Live Every Day〉 has released a poster infused with the original creator's emotions and a Q&A session.
Set to be released on March 4, 〈We Live Every Day〉 is a coming-of-age romance that begins with a sudden confession from a childhood friend, adapted from Gaedarae's webtoon. On February 20, 〈We Live Every Day〉 unveiled a special illustration poster drawn by Gaedarae and a Q&A with the creator.
In the interview, Gaedarae expressed, "I completely trusted the production team and left it in their hands," adding, "As the original creator and as an audience member, I am just grateful for the opportunity to watch the characters and moments created by the actors." He also conveyed a message to the original fans who are waiting for the film, saying, "I hope the readers who cherished the work can enjoy it with a comfortable heart."
Recently rising to stardom with 〈The Tyrant's Chef〉, Lee Chae-min stars in 〈We Live Every Day〉, which will be available in theaters on March 4. Below is the full Q&A with Gaedarae.
Q. The movie 〈We Live Every Day〉 is about to be released. What are your thoughts on the adaptation?
I still can't believe that the movie 〈We Live Every Day〉 is about to be released. The fact that a story that started as a webtoon is continuing in the form of a film is a great honor for me as a writer, and I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who worked hard to bring the work to the screen. I feel a great excitement at the thought of seeing my work as a movie, and as the original creator, I am a bit nervous. However, at the same time, I am looking forward to the day I can meet 〈We Live Every Day〉 in the theater as an audience member. I hope the readers who cherished the work can enjoy it with a comfortable heart.
Q. What is the story of the webtoon 'We Live Every Day'?
'We Live Every Day' is a school and romance story set during school days, depicting the conflicts of students who are torn between their feelings for someone and the desire not to lose precious relationships. Rather than grand events, I wanted to capture the freshness and immaturity that can only be felt at that age, and I aimed to depict a story of gradually growing beyond those emotions. I am very excited to see how it will be expressed in the film.
Q. Did you exchange any opinions with the production team during the adaptation process?
I completely trusted the production team during the film production process. Thanks to the feeling that they respected the original work, I was able to watch comfortably. I didn't directly share many opinions or intervene, but I remember communicating about how the atmosphere of the cast would blend into the emotional tone of the work. I am just grateful for the opportunity to watch the characters and moments created by the actors as both the original creator and an audience member.
Q. From 'Hosoo' and 'Yeoul' to 'Hojae' and 'Juyeon', the characters from the webtoon appear on screen. You mentioned you exchanged opinions about the casting; what were those opinions?
The fact that characters who only existed in the webtoon are being brought to life on screen by actors is truly moving. I believe all four actors will express the atmosphere of each character and the immature feelings of their school days in their own unique ways.
For the role of 'Hosoo', who matures early and is sensitive to others' feelings, I hoped to see an actor who is kind yet has a sharp charm. I think Lee Chae-min fits perfectly. 'Hojae' is someone who doesn't care much about others' opinions and expresses their own style and ease, so I am really looking forward to the character that Ryu Yeo-hyun will portray. Next, the role of 'Juyeon' is the character that reflects my own experiences the most during my school days, so I have a special connection to it. Although she appears bright on the outside, she is a delicate character inside, so I requested that her subtle emotions be well expressed. I felt that Choi Yoo-joo's smile resembles 'Juyeon' from the webtoon, so I already feel successful in terms of synchronization. Lastly, I was the happiest when I heard the casting news for the late Kim Sae-ron, who played 'Yeoul', as I have seen her as a public figure since she was very young. Although she has now left us, I believe that her portrayal of 'Yeoul' and the pure emotions in the work will be remembered for a long time.
Q. As the original creator, what do you think is the unique viewing point of the movie 〈We Live Every Day〉?
I believe the biggest viewing point of 〈We Live Every Day〉 is the emotional misalignment that anyone may have experienced at least once and will experience. I hope that through the film, viewers can naturally recall the feelings they couldn't express at moments like when the person they like doesn't like them back or when they hesitated between affection and friendship. I think if you slowly focus on the characters' emotions, you will enjoy it even more deeply.
Q. Finally, please say a word to the readers who love the webtoon 'We Live Every Day' and the audience who will meet the movie 〈We Live Every Day〉.
I sincerely thank everyone who has been waiting for the movie 〈We Live Every Day〉. I hope this work will be a time to quietly recall each person's school days or memories that remain in their hearts. I hope you will join us in the theater for 〈We Live Every Day〉.
