"This BTS concert will be an important test for countering scalping."
The government has declared a war against the rampant scalping, starting with the upcoming large-scale BTS concert. Minister Choi Hwi-young announced that all available means will be mobilized for thorough enforcement during the BTS concerts taking place in Gwanghwamun, Seoul on the 21st of this month and from the 9th to the 12th of next month at Goyang Sports Complex.
Minister Choi expressed the government's strong commitment to eradicating scalping at the launch ceremony of the 'Public-Private Council for Preventing Scalping in Performances and Sports' held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul on the 5th. He emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, "As a result of monitoring the BTS concert, numerous suspicious scalping cases have been found on some platforms."
In particular, Minister Choi indicated that "the government will actively utilize the means currently available even before the revised Performance Act and the National Sports Promotion Act are implemented," suggesting that a zero-tolerance principle will be applied even during the legal gap period.

Meanwhile, the revised Performance Act and the National Sports Promotion Act, which significantly strengthen penalties for scalping activities by imposing fines of up to 50 times the ticket price, will be fully implemented starting August 28.
Before the law takes effect, Minister Choi urged, "Active cooperation from ticket buyers and sales platforms is necessary," adding that public and private sectors must work together to foster a healthy performance culture.
