‘Full Moon’ wins over BIFF as 2 local films earn invitations

Local cinema from Busan takes the global stage

'Busan Film Commission'-backed local films will take center stage at this year's 'Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)'.

Director Jeong Ji-hye's 'Full Moon' and director Lee Yeo-jin's 'The Color of Wind' are at the forefront. The two films have earned official invitations to the 'Vision—Korea' and 'Wide Angle—Documentary Showcase' sections, respectively.

The Busan Asian Film School '(AFiS)', an institution that trains Asian film producers, is also making a strong showing. Five films involving eight graduates and one current student from the school have also been included among this year's festival selections.

This is no coincidence. It is being seen as a tangible result of Busan's efforts to discover local creators and support film production. In particular, it clearly demonstrates that the city's well-established 'global network' is smoothly translating into actual film production and international co-productions.
