A strong source story meets a trusted creative team
MBN is set to lead a new wave of romance dramas with the premiere of its new Wednesday-Thursday series ‘The Boss’s Blatant Taste’ on Nov. 11.
On Oct. 26, MBN announced that ‘The Boss’s Blatant Taste,’ starring Sung Hoon and Oh Se-young, had secured a broadcast slot, signaling confidence in the drama as one of the most anticipated series of the second half of the year. The show is a live-action adaptation of a popular novel comic — a webtoon based on a web novel of the same name — and has already drawn keen interest from fans of the original for its tightly woven storyline.
Sung Hoon leads the drama as Kwon Do-hyuk, a world-renowned artificial intelligence (AI) expert and tycoon whose perfectionism leaves no room for error. He is set to bring depth to the character, shifting between his signature charisma and nuanced emotions. Rising newcomer Oh Se-young has been cast opposite him. She plays Lee Eun-chae, the upbeat vocalist of an indie band, whose entanglement with the cool-headed Kwon Do-hyuk sparks an unpredictable workplace romance.
The creative team behind the series adds to its appeal. Nam Ji-yeon, the writer of the drama ‘Bitter Sweet Hell,’ whose tightly crafted writing has earned recognition, penned the script, bringing added depth to the story. Director Kang Sol, known for the stylish direction of ‘Delivery Man’ and ‘I’m Going to You Instead’, is at the helm and is expected to maximize the show’s visual appeal and immersiveness.
Industry insiders expect the series, which combines richly detailed character stories with the trendy subject of AI, to offer viewers a fresh kind of entertainment.
