[New Festival] Seoul Record Fair Opens in Seongsu on Oct. 31, Showcasing Analog Music; More Than 40 Albums to Debut Exclusively, Limited-Edition LPs on Sale

A celebration of analog music, where record shops and musicians thrive together

The 15th Seoul Record Fair will kick off in grand style from Oct. 31 through Nov. 1 at PUBG Seongsu, a multi-purpose cultural space in Seoul’s Seongdong District. On the 26th, the Seoul Record Fair organizing committee said the event was ready to welcome music fans with its largest-ever scale and a wide-ranging program.

First held in 2011, the Seoul Record Fair was launched to support the survival and growth of brick-and-mortar record shops, which once faced the threat of disappearing amid the rapid rise of the digital music market. It has since established itself as the country’s largest music festival, where a range of industry participants—including labels and musicians—connect directly with the public and introduce new music.

This year’s fair will feature more than 60 shops, labels and brands, including international participants from Japan and Hong Kong, underscoring its international standing. More than 40 new albums will make their debut at the event, expected to spark the collecting interest of analog music enthusiasts.

One of the most anticipated highlights is the release of rare limited-edition LPs. Singer-songwriter Lim Hyun-jung’s 2003 album A Year Out...In The Island, featuring her mega-hit song “Love Is Like Spring Rain... Goodbye Is Like Winter Rain,” will be reissued on LP and sold exclusively at the fair. Visitors will also be able to find special releases from a diverse range of musicians, including the band Sultan of the Disco, the melodic Lucid Fall, Baek Hyun-jin, known for his distinctive artistic world, and producer Bronze.

A rich lineup of side events, going beyond simple record sales, will also draw visitors. A special talk session featuring Sultan of the Disco and listening sessions offering an in-depth experience of high-fidelity vinyl records are among the varied programs set to add to the festival’s excitement.
