A woman known as the 'Ketamine Queen' has decided to plead guilty to drug sales that led to the death of 'Friends' actor Matthew Perry.
'Ketamine Queen' Pleads Guilty, Facing Up to 65 Years in Prison
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Jasbin Sangga (42) is expected to plead guilty to five charges, including distributing ketamine that caused death or bodily injury in Los Angeles.
Sangga, a dual citizen of the U.S. and the U.K., originally faced nine criminal charges. Federal prosecutors described her Los Angeles home as a 'drug sales shop' and found dozens of ketamine vials during a search warrant.
The Circumstances of Matthew Perry's Death
Perry was found dead in October 2023 in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home, and the autopsy revealed that he died from the acute effects of ketamine.
Sangga is one of five individuals who supplied ketamine to Perry, including doctors and Perry's assistant. U.S. authorities stated that they profited from Perry's drug addiction and caused his overdose death.
All Five to Plead Guilty
Those involved include doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, who sold ketamine, Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's resident assistant who helped with ketamine purchases and injections, and Eric Fleming, who bought ketamine from Sangga and sold it to Perry.
All five have agreed to plead guilty to charges related to this case. Sangga's criminal trial has been postponed several times and was set to begin next month.
The Reality of the Hollywood Ketamine Network
Sangga plans to plead guilty to one count of operating a drug-related facility, three counts of distributing ketamine, and one count of distributing ketamine that caused death or serious bodily injury. She could face up to 65 years in federal prison.
Federal authorities accused Sangga of supplying ketamine from a 'stash house' in North Hollywood since at least 2019, claiming in the indictment that she dealt with celebrities and high-end clients.
Another Death Case Involved
According to the Department of Justice, as part of the plea agreement, Sangga also admitted to selling ketamine to a man named Cody McClory in August 2019. McClory died from a drug overdose just hours after the purchase.
During a search warrant prior to her arrest in March 2024, over 80 ketamine vials were found along with thousands of pills, including methamphetamine, cocaine, and Xanax.
The Hidden Reality Behind a Glamorous Life
Sangga mingled with celebrities in social circles, and a friend told the Daily Mail that she attended the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Her social media showcased a lavish lifestyle filled with parties and trips to Japan and Mexico.
The investigation into Perry's death and how he obtained so many drugs over the years provided a glimpse into the Hollywood ketamine drug network, which one doctor described in a BBC interview as a 'Wild West'.
