Actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the 'Harry Potter' film series, joined the Broadway stage and received an explosive welcome from the audience.
Tom Felton appeared in the play 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' at the Lyric Theatre in New York. In a video released on his official Instagram, Felton received thunderous cheers and applause from the audience as he took the stage, having to wait a while before delivering his first line, "I have a request". ABC News reported that his stage debut received such an explosive reaction that it was interrupted by applause during the performance.
Draco's Adult Role
At 38 years old, Felton took on the role of an adult Draco Malfoy in this play, set 19 years after the end of the 'Harry Potter' series.
In a past interview, Felton stated, "Being part of the Harry Potter films was one of the greatest honors of my life," and expressed that this return would be a "full circle moment" for him. He explained, "We are no longer kids. We are actually parents now. So while it is a return to an old role, it is also stepping into a very new and unfamiliar territory."
Felton's appearance originally started as a 19-week limited engagement, but due to high demand, an extension of the run was decided.
