Grammy Award five-time nominee hip hop artist Akon (52) was arrested on November 7 in Chamblee, near Atlanta, Georgia. The Senegalese-American singer was detained due to a bench warrant related to driving with a suspended license, but was released after 6 hours on the same day.

The Butterfly Effect Caused by Tesla Battery Drain

Akon's arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred on September 10. At that time, his 2024 white Tesla Cybertruck came to a stop in the middle of the road due to battery drain on Holcomb Bridge Road. Upon police investigation, it was confirmed that Akon's driver's license had been suspended since January 2023.

He received a summons at the scene and was released, but a bench warrant was issued for failing to appear in court, which led to this arrest.

Captured by Flock Camera and Arrested

Chamblee Police Department received a notification from the Flock camera system on the morning of November 7 that a vehicle with an outstanding warrant was located at Tint World on Chamblee Dunwoody Road, leading to Akon's arrest at the scene. He was booked into DeKalb County Jail and released the same day after posting bail.

Akon is known for hit songs such as 'Locked Up', 'Lonely', 'Smack That', and continues his social activities, including running the 'Akon Lighting Africa' initiative to provide electricity to Africa. He is currently reported to be on a tour in India.
