World-renowned British pop star Adele is reported to be making her acting debut through the new film directed by fashion designer Tom Ford.
According to reports from 'The Times' and BBC on the 12th, Adele is set to appear in the film 'Cry to Heaven', which depicts the lives of castratos set in the 18th century. Castratos refer to male soprano singers who were castrated to achieve a female vocal range.
This work is based on the novel of the same name published by American author Anne Rice in 1982. The film centers around two castratos who become successful opera singers in 18th century Venice, exploring the complex relationships between them and those around them.
In this project, for which Tom Ford is responsible for directing, producing, and writing, many famous actors including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult, and Paul Bettany will also appear alongside Adele. However, the specific roles of each actor have not yet been disclosed.
Currently, preparations for production are underway in London, England, and Rome, Italy, with filming scheduled to begin in January next year. The film aims for a release in the second half of next year.
Adele has been on a break after completing her related performances following the release of her fourth album '30' in 2021. She previously stated last year, "I want to take a long break" and expressed her desire to engage in other creative activities for a while.
Meanwhile, Tom Ford made his directorial debut in 2009 with the film 〈A Single Man〉 and directed his next work, 〈Nocturnal Animals〉, in 2016. After selling his eponymous fashion brand Tom Ford to Estée Lauder for $2.8 billion (4.1 trillion won) in 2022, he declared, "I bid farewell to the fashion world. I will make films for the next 20 years."
