'Travel and Days' Shō Miyake "A good movie is one that brings even a small change to the audience's senses and heart"

Director Shō Miyake visited Korea and held a press conference for the film 〈Travel and Days〉 on the 2nd in Yongsan. Actor Shim Eun-kyung also attended this press conference, sharing her deep thoughts about the work and the production process.

First, director Shō Miyake expressed, "It is a happiness to shoot a film with actor Shim Eun-kyung and to have it released in Korea," sharing his feelings about the film's release in Korea. Following that, actor Shim Eun-kyung said, "I am the screenwriter, Shim Eun-kyung. I am also happy to be part of the work of director Shō Miyake, whom I have always respected."

The film 〈Travel and Days〉 is based on Yoshiharu Tsuge's masterpiece manga 'Seascape' and 'Bensang of Hon'yara Cave'. The director mentioned that during the adaptation process, "I thought it would be fun to experience the summer and winter stories of the original work in one film. I believed that feeling both seasons at once would provide a new experience."

Additionally, director Shō Miyake emphasized that he wanted to capture sensory moments that are not expressed in words in the film, focusing on elements of nature such as the sound of the wind and snow-covered landscapes, allowing the audience to experience them directly. Shō Miyake stated, "I wanted to capture every moment of the wind, both gentle and strong. The wind is originally invisible, but I thought that in the theater, it could be felt not only visually and audibly but also through the skin. I wanted to convey that wind to the audience."

Director Shō Miyake also shared his thoughts on what makes a good movie. He said, "A good movie is one that brings a small change to the audience's senses and heart." He added, "I like movies that change my senses before and after watching them. I find it interesting when even a slight change occurs."

The film 〈Travel and Days〉, which won the Golden Leopard Award at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival, is set to be released in Korea on December 10.
