Red Velvet's Joy Confirmed as Lead in Drama 'One-of-a-Kind Romance'

Group Red Velvet member and actress Joy (real name Park Soo-young) has been confirmed to star in the Naver webtoon-based drama 〈One-of-a-Kind Romance〉, as announced by her agency SM Entertainment on the 4th.

〈One-of-a-Kind Romance〉 is a romantic comedy drama based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name. It depicts the mutual fandom romance between top star Tak Mu-i (played by Kim Hyun-jin), who hides the pain of being stalked, and the ordinary job seeker Gong Yu-il (played by Joy), who unexpectedly becomes his manager.

Joy plays the role of Gong Yu-il, a job seeker with an innocent personality. Although neither her job nor love goes as planned, she maintains her bright demeanor throughout her struggles.

Gong Yu-il discovers that top star Tak Mu-i is the number one fan of a novel he wrote long ago while living an ordinary life. Joy is expected to portray the changing emotions she faces in unexpected situations delicately.

This project is directed by Kim Jin-young, who has previously directed films such as 〈B Cut〉, 〈The Unique Her〉, and 〈Meet the In-Laws〉. The script is written by Jeon Hyun-mi, a winner of the SBS drama script contest, and filming is currently underway. The scheduling and release date have not yet been confirmed.
