The living legend of modern hip-hop and a pillar of the 'Big 3', J. Cole, has released his final album, concluding his 10-year narrative.
On the 6th (Korean time), J. Cole simultaneously released his seventh studio album, 'The Fall Off', which will mark the pinnacle of his career, across global music streaming sites. The release date, February 6th, symbolizes the area code and nickname '2-6' of his hometown, Fayetteville, North Carolina.
◆ Disc 29 vs Disc 39: A 10-Year Conversation
This album, consisting of a total of 24 tracks, takes the form of a double disc.
Disc 1 (Disc 29): Captures the perspective of 29-year-old J. Cole, who was filled with ambition 10 years ago.
Disc 2 (Disc 39): Reflects the mature perspective of the present (actually 41 years old) as he has entered middle age. J. Cole explained, "This album is a conversation between my past self and my present self." The album cover also uses a photo of his bedroom taken with a disposable camera when he was 15, revealing his determination to return to the mindset he had when he first started making beats.

◆ "That Incident Awoke Me Again"
J. Cole mentioned the conflict with Kendrick Lamar in 2024 as a behind-the-scenes story of the album's production. At that time, he found himself at the center of controversy after releasing a diss track and quickly apologizing, but paradoxically, he revealed that the incident became a catalyst for his creativity. He stated, "Since that incident two years ago, I have been inspired beyond belief, and the album slowly expanded into a double disc."
Having warmed up with the EP 'Birthday Blizzard '26' released on his birthday in January, J. Cole's journey, which began in a boy's room adorned with posters of Tupac, Eminem, and Biggie, reaches a grand conclusion through 'The Fall Off'.
