Country music legend Ray Stevens (87), a two-time Grammy Award winner, reportedly suffered a fractured neck in a recent fall, but he is fortunately recovering in a stable condition.
■ Sudden Fall Accident… “A Huge Relief—Still Able to Get Around”
According to major outlets including PEOPLE (as of the 8th, local time), Stevens fell near his home on March 29. The fall left him with a fracture in his neck bones/cervical vertebrae. After receiving emergency treatment at a hospital in Nashville, he was later discharged and is resting at home.
Medical staff advised that he wear a neck brace for about four weeks, and a spokesperson said in a statement, “Despite the injury, Stevens is currently able to move around fully, and he is focusing on recovery with a very positive mindset.”
■ Album Release Will Proceed as Planned… “A Gift for Fans”
Even with the injury, Stevens’ passion for music has not been broken. His new album 〈Favorites Old & New〉, scheduled to be released via Curb Records on the 10th, will reach fans around the world without any changes to the schedule.
With 13 tracks in total, the album blends classic standards like “It Had To Be You” and “The Look of Love” with new songs by talented songwriters. Stevens said, “I enjoyed working on it while putting together the old songs I love and the new songs I’m excited about,” adding, “I hope fans enjoy this music as much as I do.”
■ The Strength Behind a “70-Year Music Career” That Keeps Beating Back Health Rumors and Crises
Rumors about Ray Stevens’ health issues are nothing new. Last July, he also underwent emergency heart surgery for a mild heart attack. Even then, he showed himself walking in the hospital hallway right after the surgery, reassuring fans with the message, “Everything Is Still Beautiful.”
Debuting in the 1950s, he left behind countless hit songs including “The Streak” and “Everything Is Beautiful,” and as an inductee of the Country Music Hall of Fame, he continues to stay active in his late 80s. Through social media, fans are sending enthusiastic support, saying things like, “Wishing country treasure Ray Stevens a speedy recovery,” and “Paying tribute to his indomitable will.”
