South Korea’s top mentor, Beopryun Sunim, heads out onto the road with a camera in hand. SBS has confirmed the first broadcast in early May for the newly unveiled “Just Ask, Just Tell” road travel story ‘Beopryun Road—Monk and Guest’, and has unveiled a dazzling lineup.
Variety is harder than practice? Beopryun Sunim’s touching India pilgrimage

Until now, Beopryun Sunim had turned down countless offers to appear on variety shows, but the program he chose this time captures his 34-year journey of visiting India’s sacred sites—marking the first time it’s been featured in a variety show format.
The appeal lies in Beopryun Sunim’s human side, as he steps away from the familiar image of an unshakable “teacher,” moves around by rickshaw, shares street food, and reacts with surprise or bursts into laughter in unexpected situations. In particular, there’s talk that during filming he left a candid confession—“Variety shows are harder than spiritual practice”—leaving the production team both amused and emotional.
From Noh Hong-cheol to Lee Joo-bin… Five guests who even canceled their planned trip to join
The details of the five guests who set out for India after receiving an invitation from Beopryun Sunim are also drawing attention. Beginning with Noh Hong-cheol, who unleashes his signature energy while having the most sincere conversations with the Sunim, Lee Sang-yoon throws his completely tidy image out the window and showcases a surprising charm as he adapts to the raw, unfiltered India.
Joining in, actor Lee Joo-bin canceled even her planned trip to New York and made sure to display her down-to-earth, unrestrained side. Also coming aboard are Lee Ki-taek, who secured “variety treasure” status with her offbeat and straightforward charm, and the youngest Woo-chan, whose distinctive warmth and friendliness adds depth to the journey. The five people—who differ in personality and age—will walk together, run into one another, and without holding back, show the process of experiencing India in their own ways and changing along the way.
The real India beyond tourist spots… A journey where life and death coexist
‘Beopryun Road—Monk and Guest’ doesn’t focus on flashy tourist destinations. Instead, it reveals the authentic face of India—through tributaries of the Ganges River, market alleyways, and even remote village schools that Beopryun Sunim himself built 34 years ago. Through the “Just Ask, Just Tell” that happens spontaneously on the road, the cast—and viewers alike—can look forward to gaining new insights about life and receiving warm comfort.
Differentiated by its depth and energy from other existing travel variety shows, SBS ‘Beopryun Road—Monk and Guest’ will visit viewers sometime in May.
