‘The Remarried Empress’ Unveils Painted Character Posters and Romance Chemistry Video

Empress Navier (Shin Min-a) is served with divorce papers by Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon), who has fallen for the runaway slave Rasta (Lee Se-young). In response, she seeks approval to remarry Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk) of the Western Kingdom.

〈The Remarried Empress〉 is a sweeping romance fantasy about Navier (Shin Min-a), the perfect empress of the Dongdae Empire, who is served with divorce papers by Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon), after he falls for the runaway slave Rasta (Lee Se-young). Rather than simply accept, she seeks approval to remarry Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk) of the Western Kingdom.

As excitement and anticipation continue to build ahead of its premiere, 〈The Remarried Empress〉, one of the most highly anticipated series of the second half of the year, has unveiled painted character posters and a romance chemistry video, further fueling anticipation.

The newly released painted character posters draw the eye with lavish visuals befitting a romance fantasy. Navier (Shin Min-a) appears against a backdrop of red and beige, conveying an empress’s grace, unshakable strength and captivating charm. Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon) is rendered in a composed yet weighty palette of blues and greens, capturing the emperor’s cool-headed and resolute nature. Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk) of the Western Kingdom commands attention with an emerald-toned look that gives him a mysterious yet refined air. Around Rasta (Lee Se-young), bright pink hues and abundant floral embellishments bring out her lively, lovable charm at a glance. The four characters each have their own distinctive colors and moods, raising questions about how they will shake the fate of the imperial court.

The posters evoke imperial portraits, with lavish details that capture the elegance and old-world charm of classical paintings. Each character is distinguished by a carefully chosen palette and delicate ornamentation, while a cohesive visual style unifies them as a single work of art. The result highlights the series’ singular appeal and builds anticipation for the captivating story these four characters will tell.

The romance chemistry video released alongside the posters captures the feelings and choices of all four characters—Navier and Sovieshu, Sovieshu and Rasta, and Navier and Heinrey—as well as the imperial court transformed by their actions. It opens with Navier and Sovieshu, the empress and emperor of the Dongdae Empire. Once the most beautiful couple, seemingly brought together by fate, they share a tender promise from Sovieshu: “No matter what happens, you will always be my only wife.” But soon, the two are shown facing each other with cold expressions, foreshadowing cracks in their once-perfect love.

As the precarious relationship between Sovieshu and Rasta unfolds, Sovieshu’s words—“Thanks to her, I learned for the first time what it means to feel my heart flutter”—lay bare his feelings for Rasta, despite the promise he made to Navier. His startling resolve, expressed to Rasta in the words “You will become empress,” raises the question of what kind of upheaval it will bring to the imperial court.

The heart-fluttering chemistry between Navier and Heinrey also catches the eye. When Navier says, “The things I thought would last forever can no longer do so,” Prince Heinrey coolly replies, “Then you should get revenge.” The way he boldly approaches her sends the sparks flying. A note from Queen reads, “Don’t you think our meeting was fate?”—a line that deepens the mystery of how the relationship that began as if by destiny will end.

With its vibrant character chemistry and lavish imperial romance, 〈The Remarried Empress〉 is set to captivate viewers around the world. The series will stream exclusively on Disney+, with episodes 1–4 premiering on Wednesday, November 4, followed by two episodes every Wednesday, for a total of 10 episodes.
