Director Yeon Sang-ho's new film 〈Face〉 and the film 〈Project Y〉 starring Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo have officially been invited to the Special Presentation section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival to be held in Canada this September, announced the distributor Plus M Entertainment on the 22nd.

The Toronto International Film Festival is the largest film festival in North America and is recognized as one of the four major film festivals in the world along with the Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, and Venice Film Festival. The Special Presentation section introduces highly anticipated films that are gaining attention worldwide. Korean films such as 〈Decision to Leave〉 (2022), 〈The Age of Shadows〉 (2016), and 〈The Handmaiden〉 (2016) have been invited to this section.

Director Yeon Sang-ho's 〈Face〉 is a mystery drama about Im Dong-hwan, the son of a seal carving master with visual impairment, who tracks down the secrets behind his mother's death. This work is a film adaptation of the webtoon of the same name that Yeon Sang-ho wrote and illustrated in 2018.

In particular, Park Jung-min is gaining attention for taking on the challenge of playing both the young version of Im Young-kyu and his son Im Dong-hwan. Talented actors such as Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Hyun-bin, Lim Sung-jae, and Han Ji-hyun also appear, enhancing the film's quality. 〈Face〉 is set to be released domestically in September after its screening at the Toronto Film Festival.

Directed by Lee Hwan, 〈Project Y〉 is a crime action film about two women trying to escape from the bottom of reality while stealing hidden black money and gold bars. Director Lee Hwan, who gained attention with the film 〈Park Hwayoung〉, takes the helm, with Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo starring to showcase intense chemistry.

Giovanna Fulvi, the chief programmer of the Toronto International Film Festival, evaluated 〈Project Y〉 as "a work that offers thrilling tension and deep emotional resonance, combining the strong magnetism created by the two actors Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo, adrenaline-pumping action, and a fierce struggle for survival stemming from a troubled childhood."

〈Project Y〉 is expected to meet domestic audiences after its screening at the Toronto Film Festival.
