Lee Chang-dong returns to Netflix with renowned actors.
After 8 years since 〈Burning〉, director Lee Chang-dong announces his new film 〈Possible Love〉 in collaboration with Netflix. 〈Possible Love〉 is said to tell the story of how the worlds of two couples who have lived extreme lives intertwine, causing cracks in their everyday lives. Netflix announced the production on August 5, but the exact filming schedule and release date have not been disclosed yet.
This new film not only marks Lee Chang-dong's return but also draws attention with its stunning cast. First, Jeon Do-yeon, who showcased the best chemistry with director Lee in 〈Secret Sunshine〉, takes on the role of Mi-ok, reuniting after 18 years. Mi-ok's husband, Ho-seok, will be played by Seol Kyung-gu, who has previously collaborated with Jeon Do-yeon in 〈I Wish I Had a Wife〉, 〈Birthday〉, and 〈Night in Paradise〉, marking their fourth collaboration. Seol Kyung-gu has also worked with Lee Chang-dong in 〈Oasis〉.
The couple leading the story alongside Mi-ok and Ho-seok is played by Jo In-sung and Jo Yeo-jeong. Jo In-sung is expected to showcase a completely new side in 〈Possible Love〉, following his upcoming film 〈Hope〉, set to be released in 2026, and the ongoing post-production of 〈Humanit〉. Jo Yeo-jeong, whose recent films such as 〈Parasite〉, 〈The Hidden Face〉, and 〈Zombie Daughter〉 have been box office hits, is also anticipated for her performance in 〈Possible Love〉.
〈Possible Love〉 is a story written by Lee Chang-dong and writer Oh Jung-mi, who co-wrote 〈Burning〉, and is produced by Finecut, the same company that produced 〈Burning〉.
