The special theater screening event for the Netflix animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 is receiving explosive interest in North America, leading to an early sell-out situation. The film industry media 'Hollywood Reporter' reported on the 20th (local time) that "Netflix is giving a surprise gift to the late summer box office."

On the 15th, Netflix officially announced the theater screening event, stating, "A special 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 sing-along event is coming to a theater near you." They promoted that "you now have the chance to sing along and seal the spirit yourself," and that "fans of Huntress and Lion Voice can gather together to sing along to this popular animated film's sing-along version."

This event will be held exclusively this weekend (23-24) in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. According to 'Hollywood Reporter', 1,700 theaters in North America have agreed to participate, and the number of screening locations is gradually increasing. As of the previous night, tickets for 1,000 screenings have already sold out, the media reported.

In particular, this screening event is being noted as an example of the changing attitudes of U.S. theater chains that have had conflicts with streaming companies. U.S. theater chains have had conflicts with streaming companies over issues such as the exclusive screening period of works, and have largely boycotted Netflix productions. However, this time, due to the hot popularity of K-Pop Demon Hunters, they have competitively decided to screen it, according to 'Hollywood Reporter'.

Major North American theater chains such as Regal Cinemas and Cinemark Theaters are participating in this event. Although Netflix has not disclosed revenue projections for this screening event, industry experts estimate that considering advance ticket sales and sold-out screenings, it could earn over $5 million to $10 million (approximately 700 million to 1.4 billion won) in North America alone.

Directed by Maggie Kang, a Korean-American at Sony Pictures, a major Hollywood film company, 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has become the highest-rated animated film in Netflix history, focusing on K-Pop and Korean culture. It is currently ranked second in the all-time viewing rankings among films produced in English, aiming for the top spot.

Additionally, eight songs from the film's original soundtrack (OST) have recently made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 main singles chart, creating a global impact across popular culture.
