Coupang Play to Live Broadcast All Matches of Son Heung-min's Team LAFC in 'Korean'!

Coupang Play announced today (14th) that starting from the 2025 season, it will live broadcast all matches of the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), where player Son Heung-min is affiliated, in Korean.

Coupang Play's first MLS broadcast will be today at 9 AM Korean time, featuring an away game between LAFC and the San Jose Earthquakes at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The broadcast will be hosted by commentator Jang Ji-hyun and caster Yang Dong-seok.

Coupang Play stated that through a multi-year partnership with MLS, it plans to provide real-time coverage of key LAFC matches, including the regular season and playoffs. However, it remained silent on the specific duration of the contract.

Previously, MLS secured exclusive streaming broadcasting rights for MLS matches through a partnership agreement with Apple in 2022.

Accordingly, it is understood that Coupang Play has jointly secured digital broadcasting rights with Apple TV only for matches in which LAFC participates.

Currently, Apple TV's MLS broadcasts are available in English and Spanish, and Coupang Play aims to provide differentiated Korean commentary and analysis services.

Coupang Play will introduce key viewing points and expected tactics in detail through a preview show 30 minutes before the start of major matches. Additionally, after the match, it will provide data-driven analysis and commentary on key scenes through a review show, particularly planning to conduct in-depth analysis of Son Heung-min's plays from various angles.

Meanwhile, LAFC matches can be viewed by Coupang Play's 'Sports Pass' subscribers without any additional cost. The 'Sports Pass' is a subscription service that allows users to enjoy various overseas football matches and sports content, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1.
