"It Was Painful Not Being Able to Communicate"... A Boy Who Was Bullied, Heading to Hollywood
Born in Yangon, Myanmar in 1990, Morisaki grew up under the care of his grandmother, separated from his parents who had moved to Japan first. When he turned 9, he stepped onto Japanese soil to live with his family, but the reality was harsh.
He revealed, "At that time, I couldn't speak Japanese at all and was severely bullied in elementary school," and calmly recalled, "I was afraid to go to school every day, but the pain from that time and my determination to learn the language shaped who I am today."
He entered the entertainment industry at the age of 14 through street casting and, after relentless effort, created a miracle. He gained worldwide recognition when he was cast in a major role (Daito) in the film 'Ready Player One' directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg in 2018. In 2020, he won the Best New Actor Award at the 43rd Japan Academy Awards for his performance in the film 'The Bee and the Thunder.'
'Musical Prince' and 'Face of Myanmar'
Morisaki is currently the top choice for casting in the Japanese musical scene. Starting with the role of Tony in 'West Side Story' in 2020, he perfectly portrayed the lead role of Lloyd Forger in the hit production 'SPY×FAMILY' staged at the Imperial Theatre in 2023. He expressed his ambition to deliver the best emotional experience to the audience in the re-performance stage continuing until December this year.
On this broadcast, he also took the microphone to perform a song filled with affection for his two countries (Myanmar and Japan). Since 2018, he has been serving as a tourism ambassador for Myanmar and enjoys national popularity there.
Meeting of 'Asia's Top' with Snow Man's Koji Mukai
Meanwhile, Morisaki Win is facing new challenges as an actor. He is preparing for the release (scheduled for fall 2025) of the Japan-Thailand co-production film '(LOVE SONG)' in which he stars alongside Koji Mukai from the popular idol group Snow Man. The industry is focusing on the meeting of these two stars rooted in Southeast Asia.
Additionally, on December 31, he will take the stage at the 'Countdown Musical Concert 2025-2026' to welcome the New Year with his fans.
