Korea's leading OTT Tving (CEO Choi Joo-hee) announced on the 2nd that it has implemented an app accessibility improvement update to resolve the visual and auditory blind spots and create a service environment where more people can enjoy content together.

In line with the year-end and New Year season when time spent at home increases, Tving has reduced the inconveniences experienced by various user groups, including visually impaired and elderly users, through app accessibility improvements and the expansion of barrier-free subtitles, thereby enhancing overall usability. Moreover, this initiative is significant as it is linked to the Korea Creative Content Agency's 'OTT Library Enhancement Support Project', combining public support with private service improvements.

First, by activating accessibility options for visually impaired users on mobile smart device operating systems such as iOS and Android, all text on the screen, including genre tab menus and content guidance phrases, is provided in voice. This allows users to navigate content, check detailed information, and play it without directly looking at the screen.

Additionally, in the Smart TV environment, a voice guidance feature is provided to verbally guide the changes occurring during screen transitions or menu navigation, making it easier and faster to watch desired content.

Since 2022, Tving has introduced barrier-free subtitle services, currently applying this service to approximately 260 titles and over 2,700 episodes. Notably, this year, in line with its first global expansion, Tving has established an English barrier-free environment so that overseas users can enjoy content without language and disability barriers. The scope of application will continue to expand to include major production company content, including the latest Tving originals such as 〈Study Group〉, 〈One Week Before I Die〉, and 〈Dear X〉.

A Tving representative stated, "This accessibility improvement is not just a simple function update, but a change in the experience designed to ensure that users do not get lost throughout the entire process from content exploration to playback," adding, "In the future, Tving plans to continue improving accessibility with the goal of being an OTT that can be used without seeing or hearing, beyond just content provision."
