A living legend of Hollywood and a lifelong activist, Jane Fonda (88) has once again taken action. She has defined the current government as 'authoritarian' and has revived her father's legacy to combat it.

According to U.S. broadcasting sources on the 23rd (Korean time), Jane Fonda appeared on CBS 'The Late Show' on the 21st and had a conversation with Stephen Colbert.

Fonda's remarks that day were very pointed. She criticized the recent actions of the Trump administration, stating, "If the government cannot meet the needs of the people, something is wrong," and added, "Authoritarianism has infiltrated every corner of the government. They are kidnapping people and legally deporting American citizens." To counter this, Fonda officially announced the revival of the 'Committee for the First Amendment', which her late father, Henry Fonda, founded in 1947 to combat the McCarthyism frenzy. This committee, which included Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall at the time to defend freedom of expression, has been reborn as a massive organization with over 550 Hollywood stars, including Viola Davis and Kerry Washington, in 2026.

Fonda emphasized, "The McCarthy era ended when Americans united for constitutional principles beyond political affiliations. The forces of oppression have returned, so now it is our turn to unite again."
