The Indie Ground, a distribution support center for independent and art films established by the Korean Film Council (Chairman Han Sang-jun), will hold the ‘2025 Independent Film Library Special Week’ from February 6 (Friday) to February 25 (Wednesday) for 20 days. This event will showcase carefully selected independent films online for free, providing a valuable opportunity to confirm the strength of domestic independent films.
Record number of submissions... A lineup of 92 films including features and shorts
The 'Independent Film Library' is a core project of Indie Ground aimed at exploring new distribution channels for independent films. Last year, the library attracted great interest with the highest number of submissions ever, ultimately selecting a total of 92 works, including 23 feature films and 69 short films.
Screenings will be divided into two parts. PART 1 will run from February 6 to 15, and PART 2 will continue from February 16 to 25, with films being released sequentially through the Indie Ground website.
A mix of award-winning films and unique shorts
The lineup of films is impressive. In the feature category, director Lee Ran-hee's 〈3rd Year 2nd Semester〉, which won four awards at the 29th Busan International Film Festival, and 〈Day and Night〉, which received the Best Documentary Award at the Busan International Film Festival, are included. Additionally, audiences can enjoy popular and artistically acclaimed films such as 〈Yangyang〉 and 〈Amoeba Girls and School Ghost Stories: Founding Day〉.
The short film category is equally strong. Award-winning film 〈The Rotary's One Season〉 and the animated film 〈Glasses〉, which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival, are among the highlights, along with Moon Sang-hoon's standout performance in 〈World Premiere〉 and the delicate youth melodrama 〈Goodbye, I Love You, Goodbye〉. Other socially relevant works include 〈Voices〉, which deals with the Jeju 4·3 incident, and 〈K Number〉, which tells the story of overseas adoptees.
Free viewing for anyone who signs up... Various events to accompany
This special week is open for free viewing to anyone who registers on the Indie Ground official website. During the screening period, online events will also be held to broaden audience participation. After the special week ends in March, Indie Ground plans to continuously introduce library works through curated screenings by keyword.
In times when the price of a single ticket can be burdensome, this special week, which allows audiences to experience the present and future of Korean independent films for free from home, is expected to be an unparalleled festival for film fans.
