Agency vows to crack down without leniency on indiscriminate online witch hunts exploiting anonymity

Actress 'Cha Ye-ryun' has categorically denied recent 'school bullying allegations' that spread across online communities, and her agency has announced tough legal action against those behind the malicious rumors.

'HB Entertainment' said in an official statement on the 4th that claims circulating online about Cha Ye-ryun’s past were “clearly 'groundless'.” The agency added, “We can no longer stand by as unverified claims and speculative posts relying on anonymity continue to be indiscriminately reproduced, even after our initial clarification.”

The agency also expressed serious concern over attacks targeting not only the actress but her family. “We are taking very seriously the personal attacks and 'spread of false information' currently directed at her family,” it said, warning that it would “thoroughly collect and secure relevant evidence, conduct a legal review, and hold those responsible to account.”

The controversy erupted after a post appeared on an online community alleging that a '1985-born actress' had bullied others at school. The post did not name anyone, but included details such as the person’s birth year and former school that could point to a specific individual, leading Cha Ye-ryun to be singled out.

The agency said it would continue taking 'strong measures' to prevent further harm caused by the spread of baseless falsehoods, signaling that it would neither settle nor show leniency over illegal acts that defame others.
