The Jeonbuk Women's Organization Federation announced on the 22nd that the 18th Jeonbuk Women's Film Festival 'Hee Her Rak Rak (喜Her樂樂)' will be held from the 4th to the 6th of next month in celebration of Gender Equality Week. This film festival will showcase 13 films that capture the voices and perspectives of women who have endured the winter of the square together and maintained their solidarity under the theme 'Finally Reaching Us'.
The opening film is the documentary 'Daughters of Olfa' directed by Kauther Ben Hania. This work is known to honestly portray the story of Olfa and her four daughters living in Tunisia.
Among the films being screened is 'The Last Woman on Earth' directed by Yeom Mun-kyung and Lee Jong-min, which depicts the process of men and women collaborating to produce a film in solidarity. Additionally, there are various works such as 'Eddie Alice: Reverse' by Kim Il-ran, which highlights the lives of transgender women Eddie and Alice, and 'Ten Wells' by Kim Mi-rae, which captures the history of the women's movement in the Jeonbuk region during the 1980s and 1990s, all ready to meet the audience.
All films can be viewed for free at Megabox Jeonju Gyeonggaksa, and after the screenings, there will be a time for dialogue (GV) with the directors, providing an opportunity for communication with the audience.
A representative from the Jeonbuk Women's Organization Federation stated, "Through this film festival, we aim to deeply illuminate the processes of oppression, loss, change, and solidarity that women experience." He continued, "I hope that through the film festival, the audience can dream together of a world where our existence becomes hope beyond discrimination and hatred."
