
Mexican renowned voice actress and actress Gabriela Michel passed away at the age of 65 on November 24 (local time). She is known as the mother of famous actress Aislinn Derbez and the ex-wife of comedian Eugenio Derbez.
The Mexican Interpreters Association (ANDI) announced on Instagram, "We share the news of the passing of Gabriela Michel, a member and interpreter of the association. She was a Mexican actress with a broad career in dubbing. We express our deepest condolences to her family and friends."
Sudden News of Heart Attack
Daughter Aislinn Derbez shared the sudden news of her mother's passing through an Instagram story. "With deep sadness, I share that my mother has passed away from a heart attack. At this moment, I need time to mourn peacefully with my family and to accept this farewell with love," Aislinn said, requesting a quiet mourning period, "Please be considerate of us during this sensitive time."
Born in October 1960 in Mexico City, Gabriela Michel dedicated decades to voice acting in the Mexican entertainment industry.
Dubbing Activities for Disney, HBO Series, and More
Her notable dubbing work includes voicing Queen Clarion in the Disney animation 'Tinker Bell' series and participating in the new 'The Haunted Mansion'.
She was especially beloved by Latin American audiences for her Spanish dubbing of the sexy and candid character Samantha Jones in the HBO series 'Sex and the City'. Additionally, she participated in the Spanish dubbing of numerous American TV series such as 'Hannah Montana' and 'Desperate Housewives', and served as the official voice for the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) for many years.
Michel met Eugenio Derbez at an acting school in the 1980s and married him in 1986, but they divorced after seven months, during which their daughter Aislinn was born. She later remarried TV host Jorge Alberto Aguilera and had two more daughters.
