Justin Lin Selected to Direct 'Helldivers' Movie Adaptation

Director Justin Lin has been appointed as the head of 'Helldivers'.

The media outlet 'Hollywood Reporter' reported that director Justin Lin, famous for the <Fast & Furious> series, will be in charge of adapting the game 'Helldivers' into a movie. 'Helldivers' is a game that depicts the activities of the special forces team 'Helldiver', which protects democracy on Super Earth by stopping the invasion of alien life forms.

In 'Helldivers', humans face overwhelming firepower against alien life forms reminiscent of bugs called 'Bugs', the technologically advanced 'Illuminates', and 'Cyborgs' who have turned their bodies into machines. Despite the bleak world where soldiers are slaughtered by alien life forms, the game humorously expresses loyalty to Earth and humanity, showcasing a strong black comedy aspect.

On the other hand, the film adaptation is expected to bring a more intuitive genre. Gary Dauberman, who has been appointed as the screenwriter alongside director Justin Lin, is known for writing the <Annabelle> and <It> two-part series, and has expertise in horror. Even if the main theme revolves around humanity's fear against alien life forms, it is expected that director Justin Lin, known for his action direction, will capture the unique firepower of the work.
