Actor Park Jung-min, who transformed into North Korean State Security Agency Chief Park Gun in director Ryu Seung-wan's new film 〈Humint〉, shared about his character Park Gun and the film's heartfelt melodrama.
First, Park Jung-min revealed the background of his participation in the film 〈Humint〉, saying, "When I was doing a stage greeting for 〈Smuggling〉, the director offered me a role in 〈Humint〉. He is a very masculine character, and since there will be a lot of action, I was told I needed to prepare for that."
In this work, Park Jung-min plays Park Gun, who loves the character Chae Sun-hwa (Shin Se-kyung) passionately but struggles not to deviate from the ideology of the state. He showcased his melodramatic acting. He said about his melodrama performance, "Park Gun is someone who finds it awkward to express himself in words. He is more accustomed to fighting for the person he loves. So I thought that remaining silent would express my feelings better than delivering lines."
After gaining attention for appearing in the music video for singer Hwasa's song 'Good Goodbye', the song 'Separation' by Patty Kim also plays a significant role in the emotional line of 〈Humint〉. When asked how he felt about each song, Park Jung-min replied, "Both songs are great. But I don't listen to Hwasa's songs anymore. I've heard them too much. I can guess them in just one second. (laughs) I'm really grateful for the song." He then commented on 'Separation' sung by Shin Se-kyung, saying, "Honestly, I was surprised when I first heard it because Se-kyung sang it so well. When I listened to it again while watching the movie, it made my heart ache a bit."
The film 〈Humint〉, where Park Jung-min's poignant melodrama shines, will be released on February 11.
