Netflix 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST 'Golden', Reaches No. 1 on UK Official Singles Chart Top 100

The original soundtrack (OST) song 'Golden' from the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has reached No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. The song climbed three spots to the top in just six weeks after its release.

The UK Official Chart is considered one of the two major charts representing the global music market alongside the US Billboard. The Official Chart stated, "HuntRix's 'Golden' has topped the UK chart as a K-Pop song for the first time in 13 years," adding, "This is the first occurrence since Psy's 'Gangnam Style' achieved the first K-Pop No. 1 in 2012."

The success of this OST is an exceptional achievement for animated music. It marks the first time in about three years that an animated OST has reached the top of the UK Singles Chart since Disney's 'Encanto' with 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' in 2022.

'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is a work produced by Sony Pictures Animation in the United States, featuring a fictional K-Pop girl group, HuntRix, who fight evil spirits and protect the world with their songs. 'Golden' was sung by composer Lee Jae (EJAE), a former SM Entertainment trainee, and Korean-American singer Audrey Nuna, with contributions from Teddy and 24 of The Black Label in the composition. Some Korean lyrics are also included.

Music critics have praised the song's familiar melody and refreshing high notes, stating that it has established itself as the top hit of the summer season. In fact, 'Golden' first entered the UK Top 100 chart at the end of June and quickly rose in rank, coinciding with the film's box office success, reaching the top this week.

Additionally, 'Golden' has topped the domestic music site Melon Top 100 and ranked No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, showcasing its prominence in the global music market.

Martin Talbot, CEO of the Official Chart, commented, "It has been 13 years since Psy's 'Gangnam Style' first recorded a K-Pop No. 1 in the UK, and once again, a Korean genre is leading the global music scene at this significant moment."

Furthermore, other songs from the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST are also performing well. 'Your Idol' ranked 10th on the Official Singles Chart, 'Soda Pop' ranked 11th, and 'TAKEDOWN' ranked 63rd.

In contrast, BLACKPINK's new song 'Jump' dropped five spots to remain at No. 36, while member Rosé's solo song 'APT.' fell four spots to No. 44. TWICE's 'STRATEGY' re-entered the chart this week at No. 85.
