The weather and the theaters were hot. In August, the number of moviegoers set the record for the highest monthly audience this year. According to the integrated ticketing system, over 13 million people visited theaters, breaking the previous record of 11,737,296 set in July. The total audience in August was 13,452,386, with 6,297,679 viewers for Korean films, accounting for 46.8%, and 7,154,707 viewers for foreign films, accounting for 53.2%. Compared to last August, there was an increase, and at the center of it was actor Cho Jung-seok.
Looking at the August box office rankings, 〈My Daughter is a Zombie〉 (released on July 30) attracted the most viewers with 4,646,776, followed by 〈Demon Slayer: Mugen Train〉 (released on August 22) and 〈F1 The Movie〉 with 3,153,961 and 2,048,797 viewers, respectively. Meanwhile, the total audience in August 2024 was 11,779,803, with the highest-grossing film being 〈Pilot〉 starring Cho Jung-seok, which attracted 4,032,634 viewers. It would not be strange to call Cho Jung-seok the 'Man of August.'
