The star of the popular Netflix series 'Outer Banks', Chase Stokes, shocked fans by posting a significant message on Instagram Stories on November 20 (local time), hinting that his relationship with country singer Kelsea Ballerini has ended.
"I was blocked, and I did nothing wrong"
Stokes left a short but powerful message on his Instagram Stories saying, "I was blocked, and I did nothing wrong. I'm sorry. I tried". In a follow-up post, he added, "I'm sorry to those who believed in us. But it can't be helped. Let's move forward".
Although he did not directly mention Kelsea Ballerini's name, it is interpreted in context as hinting at the couple's breakup. Representatives for both parties have not yet released an official statement.
33-year-old Stokes and 32-year-old Ballerini have been dating for about two and a half years since early 2023. In September, People reported that the two had broken up, but recent sightings of them holding hands in Croatia raised reunion rumors, making Stokes' post even more controversial. A source from US Weekly had previously reported, "Kelsea and Chase are trying to rekindle their relationship."
Controversy Erupted Right After the CMA Awards
Stokes' post came right after Kelsea Ballerini attended the 59th CMA Awards held in Nashville on November 19. Ballerini performed her new EP 'Mount Pleasant' track 'I Sit In Parks' on stage, but Stokes did not attend the event.
Ballerini's EP includes songs about their relationship, and particularly, the song '587' is known for its title, which expresses the distance in miles between Ballerini's home in Tennessee and Stokes' home in South Carolina, drawing attention.
The two reportedly started their relationship after following each other on Instagram in January 2023, with Ballerini sending the first DM. Earlier this week, Stokes warned trolls in Ballerini's TikTok comments, saying, "Get a grip."
