The sequel ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, which returned after 20 years, is keeping up its momentum with unstoppable buzz at the box office.

According to data from the Integrated Ticketing Network for movie theater admissions, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ drew roughly 31,000 viewers the previous day, capturing a 31.4% share of ticket sales to reclaim #1 in the domestic box office.

During the Children’s Day holiday period that ran through May 5, it briefly yielded the top spot to the game-based animated film ‘Super Mario Galaxy’, but once the holiday ended, it climbed back to the #1 position.

Since its release on April 29 last month, the cumulative audience count has reached about 1.026 million—easily clearing the 1 million mark.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ reunites Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, the stars of the original film that sparked a worldwide sensation in 2006. Set in New York’s top fashion magazine ‘Runway’, the film earnestly portrays the stories of people fighting to survive amid a rapidly changing media landscape, earning strong praise.

Meanwhile, the horror film ‘Salmokji’, starring actress Kim Hye-yoon, placed second, drawing about 18,000 viewers (18.7% share of sales) the previous day. Its cumulative audience count stands at roughly 2.875 million, putting it within sight of crossing 3 million viewers.

Next, ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ took third with about 10,000 viewers, and the SF blockbuster ‘Project Hail Mary’ ranked fourth with about 8,000 viewers.

Ticket sales share also continues to favor ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2.’ As of 9:00 a.m. on the day, it leads with a 19.6% ticket sales share and has secured roughly 41,000 advance ticket buyers.

Ahead of its release on the 13th, the biographical film ‘Michael,’ featuring Michael Jackson climbed to #2 with a 17.9% ticket sales share (about 37,000 viewers). ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ followed with 16.5% (about 34,000 viewers).
