Country Singer Jelly Roll Successfully Loses 86kg... "Changing My Relationship with Food After 39 Years Was the Hardest"

Country singer Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) is inspiring fans around the world with his remarkable weight loss achievements. At 39 years old, he began serious health management in early 2024 and successfully lost 189 pounds (about 86kg) by May 2025.

Having once weighed 500 pounds (about 227kg), Jelly Roll succeeded in reducing his weight to below 300 pounds (about 136kg) and shared the most challenging aspect in an interview with People magazine.

"Changing my relationship with food that I’ve had for 39 years was the hardest battle. No one in my family has ever had a healthy relationship with food. Fighting that demon and committing to discipline and dedication was the toughest part."

High-Protein Diet and 'Jelly Roll Losers Run Club'

Even while on tour, Jelly Roll has hired a personal chef to maintain a high-protein diet and has incorporated various physical activities into his daily routine, including basketball, stadium stair climbing, and ice baths.

After completing a 5K run in 2024, he created his own run club, the 'Jelly Roll Losers Run Club', where he enjoys running with fans and sharing healthy changes. He has also achieved previously unimaginable goals, such as successfully climbing Camelback Mountain in Arizona in February 2025.

He told E! News, "This would have been absolutely impossible before. I’m really happy to see progress, and we’re continuing to move forward." Jelly Roll is setting a new goal to grace the cover of 'Men's Health' magazine by March 2026, strengthening his resolve.

Dramatic Transformation and the Nickname 'Veggie Roll'

Recently, Jelly Roll showcased a dramatic transformation by completely shaving his beard for the first time in 10 years. His wife, Bunny XO, shared a video on social media, expressing affection by saying, "He wants to show off that jawline now that he’s slimmed down."

After his weight loss, he needed skin removal surgery and joked during a WWE broadcast in July 2025, "Now that I don’t have sagging breasts when I take my shirt off, that’s a big bonus." Fans are celebrating his healthy transformation by calling him the new nickname 'Veggie Roll'.
